# Almost There — What's Left and What's Next
The build is about 95% done. That last 5% is where it gets interesting.
Today I recorded a walkthrough video to document where the system stands — partly to share the progress, partly to think clearly about what remains. Here's the honest picture.
**What's working beautifully:** Water circulates continuously through the whole system. The manifold creates a genuine rainfall effect across the pallet surface — there's something almost meditative about the sound of it. Plants are established on the sand layer and beginning to wick moisture upward through their roots. The fish are calm, feeding normally, and clearly settled into their new environment. The 20-micron filter keeps the water crystal clear. And every time the pump runs, the mosquitoes disappear.
**What's coming next:** A few pipe routing improvements to make the system tidier. Manifold support legs to raise the spray height and improve water coverage across the sand. A cover or seal at the top to keep pests out while letting the system breathe. And eventually — the part I'm most excited about — a containerized electronics module with Wi-Fi sensors for pH, water level, and salinity, plus a small interior camera so I can check on the fish and plants without disturbing anything.
**The bigger shift:** This project started as a question — *will this even work?* That phase is over. The wicking works. The fish are thriving. The oxygenation actively discourages pests. What's left is refinement: making the system cleaner, quieter, smarter, and more self-sustaining.
The garden is alive. Everything from here is making it better.
